Monet & Grandfather

Here Monet is pictured with her grandfather Sgt. Marion Meredith Beal. Sgt Beal is a Montford Point Marine (the first African Americans to integrate the Marine Corps during WWII) and was the FIRST African American to work in the Marine National Headquarters in Washington D.C. He received a Congressional Gold Medal for his service and is an inspiration to all at 91 years of age! He received this medal the same week Monet competed in Fresno.
